Description

The Advisor, Award Compliance Operations is responsible for ensuring that award financial data is complete and accurate, awards are implemented in compliance with donor and agency requirements, and that award compliance risks are identified and monitored at an organizational level. You will ensure Save the Children US (SCUS) staff, Save the Children International (SCI) staff, and partners implementing awards have the support and training needed to mitigate financial, operational, and compliance risks. You will play a critical role, establishing and maintaining monitoring plans for the agency's highest risk awards in partnership with colleagues from International Programs and other divisions, and will be responsible for ensuring consistent application of agency policies.

What You'll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Management of Award Records (20%)

  • Maintain records for active awards in AMS, including complete and accurate completion of required fields and proper document storage
  • Facilitate review and approval of award agreements and amendments in line with agency policies
  • Review and approve award records in Agresso, including confirmation of proper budget set up
  • Maintain subaward records in Agresso
  • Contribute to regular award data reviews and ensure resolution of issues
  • Contribute to tools, guidance, and policies related to award data

Award Monitoring (25%)

  • Manage monitoring of assigned geographic portfolio of awards to ensure compliance with donor and agency requirements
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regional and country office finance and compliance staff, including regular portfolio level monitoring meetings to address systemic challenges
  • Establish and maintain monitoring plans for the agency's highest risk awards in partnership with colleagues from International Programs and other divisions, such as Finance, Legal, and Safety & Security

Internal Finance & Compliance Reporting (10%)

  • Work closely with the Associate Director, Award Monitoring and Systems to provide colleagues in International Programs with accurate, up to date finance and compliance information about awards in their programmatic portfolios; Identify trends
  • Provide support and training as required

Subaward Support (5%)

  • Ensure subawards to SC Members within assigned geographic portfolio include the proper flow down of requirements
  • Initiate advances and reimbursements to Members and reconcile to ensure accurate financial records
  • Monitor adherence to donor audit requirements, support closeout as required

Team Supervision (20%)

  • Train, develop, coach, lead, and supervise staff, clearly communicating organization, division and department priorities, and how their work contributes to our mission, ensuring that the working environment continually fosters diversity, inclusion, and belonging - supporting Save the Children values

Agency Projects (20%)

  • Lead, serve on core team, or provide subject matter expertise on Agency projects from a compliance operations perspective.
  • Provide guidance and support direct reports as they serve on Agency Projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience in financial and compliance monitoring of sub-recipients
  • Demonstrated knowledge of compliance requirements for key SCUS donors (USAID, Global Fund, UN, Gates Foundation, USDA, BPRM, etc.)
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple, and at times, competing priorities
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to synthesize complex information
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with USAID-funded programs, including contracts
  • Experience managing a team
  • Experience in accounting or management of financial transactions
  • Experience in data quality and/or analysis
  • Knowledge of Save the Children policies and systems

Compensation

Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

  • Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $84,150 - $94,050 base salary
  • Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $76,500 - $85,500 base salary
  • Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $68,850 - $76,950 base salary

The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available here). Employee may be eligible for an incentive program.
