The APRN in the Aerodigestive Disease Center will be responsible for:
  • Assessing and treating new and returning patients, under the supervision of a Pulmonary Physician.
  • Acting as primary communicator for pulmonary patient questions and phone calls. Assisting with prior authorizations and refills.
  • Providing comprehensive patient education for patients with new diagnoses as well as those starting new treatments
  • Triaging new referral cases and second opinions to ADC Center. Reviewing outside medical records. Communicating with referring physicians and new patient families as needed to facilitate referral.
  • Approximately 60% (4 clinical sessions per week) will be spent in direct patient care of children with aerodigestive and other Pulmonary disorders.
  • Identifying patient educational needs and lead/coordinate the development of educational materials.
  • Planning, organizing and overseeing policies and procedures designed to improve the patient/family experience.

To qualify for this position you must have:

  • A background working with children with chronic illness, knowledge of long term medications and drug interactions.
  • Strong physical assessment and diagnostic skills important.
  • 2-5 years pediatric nursing experience required.
  • Would consider a new grad NP with strong inpatient nursing experience (ideally pulmonary or ICU experience)
  • Prior experience with pediatric Pulmonary patients, pediatric primary care and clinical research is desirable, but not essential.
  • This is a full time/40 hour per week position.

The mission of the multidisciplinary Aerodigestive Disease Center is to provide comprehensive assessment and treatment of children, adolescents and young adults with problems impacting both the respiratory and digestive systems. This program brings together pediatric specialists in gastroenterology, pulmonology, feeding therapy, nutrition and other subspecialties in a team which delivers coordinated care to patients and families who come to us from all over the world.
