GENERAL SUMMARY:

* The Department of Community Health at Newton-Wellesley Hospital (NWH) seeks an experienced, strategic, proactive, and results-oriented professional to serve as Senior Project Manager for the NWH Community Collaborative. Embedded within the broader umbrella of Community Health, the mission of the Collaborative is to unite healthcare professionals and volunteers to bridge medical system gaps by reducing healthcare disparities, strengthening the social fabric of support, and empowering residents to lead healthier lives.

* The Collaborative was established in 2017 to serve residents of six towns in the Metro-Boston area.

* The Collaborative integrates Newton-Wellesley Hospital more deeply into the local community's social structure and is a core part of the hospital's mission to enhance health and wellness.

* Its eight councils focus on unmet, often poorly funded, or unreimbursed needs through oversight and support of clinical services and educational programs.

* Initiatives are aligned with needs identified in the ongoing Community Health Needs Assessment and carried out by specialized councils.

* Work embraces education, advocacy, philanthropy, and targeted programmatic initiatives.

This role will report to the Senior Director, Community Health and Volunteer Services and collaborate with the leadership of the eight Community Collaborative Councils (Domestic and Sexual Abuse, Elder, Heart Health and Wellness, Maternity Services, Palliative Care Services, Resilience (youth mental health), Substance Use, and Workforce Development). Council leadership includes highly engaged Community Chairs/Co-Chairs and Hospital Champions (Chiefs of Service and clinical leaders associated with Council areas of focus). This position will be responisbie for executing on the identified strategic priorities for each Council.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead and has ownership for the creation and execution of Collaborative strategic priorities.
  • Use data analytics to identify and analyze data and establish metrics for all strategic priorities.
  • Frame and develop tracking methodology for Collaborative priorities according to best practice project management tools.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and materials such that progress priorities can be reported to Collaborative and broader hospital leadership.

* Demonstrate accountability for project results. Regularly evaluate and measure effectiveness of engagement strategies and make recommendations to leadership.

  • Demonstrate successful application of improvement methodologies and tools. Demonstrate ability to stimulate thinking by posing new ways of doing things.
  • Serve as leader for multiple projects and improvement activities.
  • Advance Collaborative success by expanding upon a high-quality interaction that foster engagement and investment. Identify opportunities to cultivate engagement within the Councils and gaps in membership.

* Establish evaluation methods and systems for sustainability of Council priorities.

  • Collaborate with the data analytics team to monitor reporting dashboards for Collaborative initiatives
  • Lead the project timeline for Council priority implementation including tracking milestones and deliverables, resolving issues that arise, and escalating as appropriate.
  • Responsible for providing milestones to ensure the materials associated with the Collaborative are accurate. This is of particular importance for the annual NWH Gala of which the Community Collaborative is the beneficiary. Accurate data will be provided to donors to communicate how their donations are making an impact.

* Serve as a liaison with operational hospital departments. Develop partnerships with hospital colleagues.

  • Lead and actively participate in Collaborative and hospital leadership meetings and engage with Council members involved in projects/initiatives.
  • Network with community organizations and groups to build organizational awareness for the Community Collaborative.
  • Develop a working knowledge of NWH, in general and the communities that NWH serves for the hospital's community health efforts, and NWH and MGB Community Health strategy. Stay current on best practices and trends in community health.
  • May be assigned, as needed, to additional project work related to Community Health

Working Conditions

40 hours/week

General day hours with flexibility to meet the demands of the position (e.g., some early morning or later meetings)

A hybrid work environment with some days in the office and some remote.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • A master's degree in health management, business, public health, or public policy, preferred.
  • 8 -10 years of experience in community health, health policy, quality improvement, project management, or a related field. Healthcare setting is preferred. (or a blend of experience and education)
  • Experience in process improvement, healthcare consulting, policy analysis, or quality/clinical/financial data analysis and reporting preferred.
  • Experience in clinical project management, excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work autonomously.
  • Ability to set priorities and vision, manage multiple tasks and projects, and set, and meet, deadlines, strongly preferred
  • Strong PC / Microsoft application skills including Word, Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

o Skilled communicator - leading meetings, facilitating, presenting.

o Ability to make recommendations and convey outcomes to multiple audiences from clinical staff to leadership.

o Demonstrated knowledge of project management, improvement methods/concepts. Proven knowledge of evidence-based process approaches and outcome metric methods. PMP or other similar project management certification preferred.

o Excellent Organizational skills - ability to manage tasks and projects, meet

deadlines and manage to tight schedules.

o Strong customer service orientation.

o Ability to work effectively as both a leader and member of a team.
