This is a hybrid role requiring an onsite presence 2x/month.

The Senior Staff Accountant works with financial management to perform monthly accounting functions, maintain financial records, and to implement improvements to department processes.

Using established accounting procedures, this position performs a variety of well-defined accounting duties including preparation of journal entries and preparation and analysis of financial reports along with a number of account reconciliations. In addition, (s)/he may be selected to be the Finance lead on cross-departmental projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Responsible for all journal entries, monthly account reconciliations, and transactions for assigned accounts.
* Responsible for the timely creation and verification of monthly general ledger entries.
* Manages MassHealth Accountable Care Organization transactions and reporting.
* Works with senior finance staff to review financial documents and perform income and expense analysis.
* Maintains records for financial audits and prepares audit schedules.
* Reports to the Accounting Manager and collaborates and consults with outside contracted affiliates (i.e., Mass Health, Providers, DOI) and various departments within the organization.
* Partners with the Accounting Manager to discuss the financial impact for certain journal entries.
* Helps mentor and lead more junior staff.
* May lead project teams and supervise the work of others.
* Hold self and others accountable to meet commitments.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business administration or related field
* 5-7 years of experience in accounting and financial analysis.
* Master's Degree in accounting preferred.
* Healthcare/Insurance experience preferred.
* Intermediate excel skills required.
* Experience with various financial systems including Workday preferred.
* Must be multi-task oriented, organized, able to set priorities, and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

* CPA
