We have an important role to play in securing the region's clean and reliable energy future! In this role you will design connectivity solutions that support ISO New England's enterprise, markets and reliability services and further the four Information Technology tenets of Efficiency, Reliability, Security and Cost Effectiveness. You will influence the strategic technical direction for the private and public cloud infrastructure supporting the New England electrical grid, the region's wholesale electricity markets, and the technologies that empower the rest of ISO New England's workforce. You and a systems-focused Infrastructure Architect will partner to provide the necessary technical leadership for the development, implementation and operation for all infrastructure and service delivery technologies.

How you will make an impact:

  • Analyze existing network and telecommunications infrastructure to ensure designs and related platforms provide optimal function and security.
  • Identify business requirements to design modern connectivity solutions that meet these requirements.
  • Design solutions that remove technical debt and provide a foundation for rapid adoption of emerging technologies.
  • Develop technical roadmaps and plans for integrating new solutions into existing infrastructure.
  • Provide technical direction and support throughout project planning and implementation efforts.
  • Partner with teams to perform operational root cause analysis to help inform new solution developments.

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor's or Master's of Science in Computer Science, Network or Telecommunications Engineering, Information Systems Management or related field required. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 10+ years working with network and telecommunications technologies
  • 10+ years integrating different infrastructure technologies
  • 5+ years of project leadership
  • 5+ years of infrastructure architecture
  • Deep technical experience in at least 4 of the following:
    • Software-defined network technologies
    • ZTNA and firewall security technologies
    • Kubernetes container technologies
    • Cloud connectivity technologies
    • DNS and NTP technologies
    • Analog/Digital telecommunications technologies
    • Load balancing and clustering technologies
    • Physical data center infrastructure technologies
    • Electrical grid telemetry technologies
    • NERC CIP compliance standards
    • IaC, CI/CD & GitOps automation principles
