Overview

Element has a current opening for an Environmental Monitoring Tech to join our growing team in Acton, MA. The Environmental Monitoring (EM) Department supports microbiological testing for cleanrooms that may be utilized by hospital pharmacies, and/or medical device and biotechnology companies to manufacture products such as parenteral medicines, implantable devices, and contemporary biotherapeutics. EM sampling can help to demonstrate the overall state of microbiological control within a cleanroom environment and provides our clients with crucial data to be able to maintain regulatory requirements (i.e., ISO, A2LA, FDA, EU, USP, etc.). In accordance with quality assurance requirements, the EM Technician I will independently gather and record test data from client sites, while also supporting the daily operations of the microbiology lab and EM Department.

Responsibilities
    Travels to client facilities in company vehicle to set up and perform testing in a cleanroom environment
  • Operates appropriate sampling equipment to collect samples (viable and non-viable particulate, surface, personnel proficiency, compressed gas, and water sampling)
  • Conducts testing in accordance with SOP and/or Client Protocols and methods
  • Prepares supplies required for testing and collecting samples daily
  • Ensures safety and GMP compliance.
  • Assists in EM trending for the internal sterility cleanroom
  • Performs cleanroom cleaning and disinfection of internal cleanroom as needed
  • Reads and interprets microbiological testing data as needed
  • Supports day-to-day functions (client documentation creation, supply management, calibration) within the EM Department.
  • Other duties based on experience that may be assigned by EM Department Supervisor
Skills / Qualifications
  • A minimum of a high school diploma, with at least three years of work experience or an associate degree or greater in a Life Sciences discipline is preferred OR college level courses completed and/or a minimum of 0-2 years' experience in a testing related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software
  • Effective organizational and communication skills (interpersonal, written and verbal- with a special emphasis on neat handwriting)
  • Ability to lead people and promote team philosophy of professional drive, positivity, timeliness, and great customer service.
  • Strong interest in learning industry requirements and standards
  • Clean driving record
  • Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience in a field-based client service role is a plus
  • Excellent personal hygiene and outgoing personality
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and able to push, pull, bend, and prolonged standing while gowned as required during sampling
