Job Description Summary

The Project Designer's role is to be the main point of contact for their assigned design projects and responsible for completing a prelim and spec design, implementing design standards, hitting minimum timelines, documentation and follow ups. AutoCAD and Revit skills required.

Design Standards:

  • Understand and be able to communicate The UPS Store design standards and minimum requirements effectively and with expertise.
  • Understand and implement basic ADA and Building Code Requirements.

Drafting Standards:

  • Be able to clearly communicate scope of work through line weights and scope notes.
  • Be sufficient in Revit and CAD

Drawing Timeframes:

  • Preliminary Drawings - Five days from preconstruction information received to sending the preliminary drawing to HQ for review.
  • Revisions - Two days from revisions received to sending the revision drawing to HQ for review.
  • Black and Tan: Design Approval to Specification Packet - Five days from design approval to specification packet sent to the AF or FC/Franchisee
  • Blue Horizon: Design Approval to Specification Packet - Eight days from design approval to specification packet sent to the AF or FC/Franchisee
    • Quotes for flooring and/or gates should be requested asap after design approval is received

Drawing Reviews:

  • The drawing should be turned into the preliminary drawing reviewer or the specification packet reviewer by the day before the drawing is due by 3:00.

Reflex:

  • The schedule should be filled out as the steps happen.
  • The notes should be entered as significant items happen.
    • The note should let anyone know, what happened, next steps, what is being waited on and a date of follow up if appropriate.
  • Always use the Reflex e-file link in your emails.
  • Upload all project relevant documents to the Construction
  • Square footage for the project to be entered on the Sites tab
  • Final cost ledger total to be entered on the Cost Ledger tab

Participating in being a Team:

  • There will be additional projects and documentation that will come up to be a more efficient team.
  • Be active with suggestions about how to be a more positive and productive team.
  • When one person on the team is out, it is expected to jump in and fill in as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Interior Design preferred
  • 1+ years of relevant work experience or any similar combination of education and experience.
  • ExperienceinREVIT and AutoCADpreferred
  • Ability to read and review construction documents; provide technical sign-off/approval
  • Understanding of the technical aspects of design/construction such as low voltage, construction materials, design concepts/budgets, constructability, electrical and HVAC systems
  • Versed in the five phases of aninterior/architecturalproject
  • Excellent internal and externalcustomer serviceskills
  • Effectiveinterpersonal skillsandproblem-solvingability
  • StrongMicrosoft Office skills
  • Excellent oral andwritten communication skills
  • Ability to multi-taskand manage several projects simultaneously

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate's experience and qualifications.


The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.


The compensation for the position is: $42,500.00 - $50,000.00
