Job Description:

Microchip's Discrete and Integrated Solutions Group (DISG) offers one of the industry's most comprehensive power and RF/microwave discrete semiconductor product portfolios. The DISG encompasses two business units, the Power Discrete & Modules BU and the RF/Microwave Discrete BU. Markets of the PDM & RF/MW Discrete BU's address include: alternative energy, industrial, medical, defense, commercial aviation, communications, embedded systems, motor control, power solutions, sensors, and security. Microsemi is planning to fill the following position with a talented, creative, and motivated individual.

Summary

Microchip is currently seeking a first shift Manufacturing Technician to join our metal finishing / plating department. In this role, you will assist in a variety of finishing operations such as those listed below.

Responsibilities

  • Nickel / Silver Plating.
  • Sintering Furnace Operation.
  • Furnace Profiling and Maintenance.
  • Plating Thickness Measurement.
  • Product Sorting.
  • Equipment Cleaning.
  • Recordkeeping.
  • Understand and practice safe use of chemicals.
  • Must be aware of and adhere to all programs, practices, and policies.
  • Work closely with production supervisors, engineers, and equipment support teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, as well as use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work is performed indoors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position requires the use of acids and chemicals and there is exposure to temperatures ranging from 68 to 98 degrees.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a high paced manufacturing environment.
  • Must be comfortable frequently working near moving mechanical parts and hazardous chemicals.
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Must be able to effectively read, write and communicate in English.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Understanding of basic math.
  • Competency with small hand tools and ability to work on small parts.
  • Must be a motivated and detail-orientedindividual, eager to learn and produce desired plating results.
  • Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and adhere to safety standards and policies at all times.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a plating / chemical processing environment.
