The Opportunity: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Events Coordinator to join our dynamic Catering/Banquet Department. The Events Coordinator will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of private events, weddings, corporate gatherings, and other special occasions. This position requires a passion for hospitality, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to create memorable experiences for our members and guests.

Duties and Functions:

  • Approach all encounters with members, guests, and employees in a friendly service-oriented manner.
  • Supervise and assist with the setup of assigned banquet functions, ensuring that Renaissance's standards are met and advance preparation for service is adequate to allow efficient service to the guest once the function begins.
  • Inspect the setup of meeting and banquet functions, checking them against the Banquet Event Order.
  • Act as the liaison between Catering & Events Manager and the in-house meeting or banquet contact.
  • Assist the Catering & Events Manager with scheduling banquet staff to ensure sufficient staffing for upcoming functions. Maintain labor productivity at or below budget.
  • Assist in service of banquet functions as required.
  • Assist with liquor inventory for all banquet bars and maintain proper control over service thereof.
  • Supervise and assist with the breakdown after the completion of functions to ensure that all equipment and supplies are stored properly.
  • Inspect the sanitation of all function space and storage areas to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and organization throughout the department.
  • Assist event guests staying overnight in Clubrooms by directing them to their assigned rooms.
  • Be familiar with fire exit locations and fire safety procedures.
  • Supervise all banquet staff alongside Catering & Events Manager during functions.
  • Be familiar with and enforce all Standard Operating Procedures for the Banquet department.
  • Ensure employees are attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to guests, members, managers, and all their fellow employees at all times.
  • Ensure staff are in proper uniform upon start of shift.
  • Assist with hiring and training staff as needed.
  • Assist client with audio/visual needs.
  • Be familiar with the operation of P.O.S. system and end of shift procedures.
  • Notify management of any injuries, accidents, or issues that occur throughout events and take down necessary contact information if necessary.
  • Attend meetings with the Catering & Events Manager as assigned.

Qualifications Standards:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • TIPS Certification and Crowd Control required
  • Previous relevant experience
  • Excellent oral communication and listening skills
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Energetic personality and strong work ethic
  • Polite manners and excellent communication skills
  • Extreme attention to detail and quality
  • Adherence to professional appearance standards & club policies
  • Ability to lift 25-50 lbs
  • Constantly standing, walking, and reaching during shift; possibly extended distances; ability to bend and climb stairs when necessary
  • Available and flexible to work nights, holidays, and weekends
