The , located within the , is seeking to hire a Research Associate III to apply an exciting new spatial transcriptomics technology we have developed, called Slide-tags, to human brain samples.Slide-tags are a method that allows us to perform single-cell sequencing while also capturing a cell's spatial location within a tissue section.We are using the method to learn the locations of all cell types in the human brain and to uncover how these cell types are altered in the context of neurodegenerative diseases.

The successful applicant will be performing cutting-edge molecular genomics experiments on rare and precious human brain specimens. The position offers ample opportunities for growth, from learning more about genomics technology development, to neuroscience.The applicant will be embedded in a highly multidisciplinary environment, working alongside neuroscientists, molecular biologists, and computational scientists to generate data that gives an unprecedented look at the human brain.

The Macosko Lab is located within the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research, whose goal is to improve mental health through research.The Stanley Center and the Broad Institute provide a vibrant research environment with close links to MIT, Harvard, and Harvard-affiliated hospitals across Boston.Being a member of our team will provide the opportunity for your contributions to be utilized and recognized across a large and vibrant community of researchers in the fields of genomics and brain disease research.


Qualifications:

  • B.S. or M.S. in a related life science field.

  • Extensive prior lab experience (at least 4 years of full-time bench research) is essential.

  • Prior experience working in genomics is preferred, and particularly experience generating single-cell or spatial transcriptomics data is ideal, but not required.

  • The most important qualities we are looking for in a bench scientist are rigorous attention to detail, systematic thinking, and strong communication skills.
