About the opportunity

SWCA Environmental Consultants' Ecological Restoration Group is looking for additional team members to assist during our 2024 field season (April-October). This position will predominantly require work in the New Bedford, Massachusetts area and may require occasional travel in order to complete restoration projects throughout the Northeast. Projects requiring overnight mobilizations include per diem and a single occupancy hotel room.

What you will accomplish

  • Work in a team setting to complete restoration plantings
  • Effectively communicate with other project team members and follow instructions well
  • Implement and complete tasks and responsibilities delegated by Field Supervisors
  • Take positive action and accountability for assigned work

Experience and qualifications for success

Required:

  • Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to pass a motor vehicle screening.
  • Ability to travel to a location, hike and conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather, in a coastal setting, while carrying equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds is required.
  • Experience at working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
  • Effectively conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Flexible during times of change
  • OSHA 10-hour certification

Preferred:

  • Direct work experience in a landscaping/construction capacity, as normally acquired from one (1) to three (3) years of industry experience.
  • Prior experience conducting invasive species removal through chemical and/or physical removal.
  • OSHA 40-hour certification

An employee in this Amherst-based position can expect an hourly rate of $19.00-$24.50/hour. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
