Job Summary:

The Sr. SAP ABAP Developer is responsible for SAP development including design, coding, and unit testing of RICEFW objects, integrations, and custom applications in S/4, Fiori, PI/PO, and EWM. Understand business requirements, challenges and opportunities and lead the design of the SAP ERP solution to meet established business objectives. Research technical solutions, identify options and provide recommendations to the Sr. Manager SAP IT Technical Application that represent the best interests of the organization. Partner effectively with the all-business functions, Functional Capability Leads and with third-party partners; facilitate alignment between these parties to optimally achieve desired results. Ensure delivery of quality deliverables that meet with internal coding guidelines and business expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather integration requirements and design scalable, efficient integration solutions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for SAP integration best practices, tools, and methodologies.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest SAP integration technologies and industry trends, and apply this knowledge to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Develop, test, and deploy SAP RICEFW objects.
  • Respond quickly and efficiently when debugging, identifying root cause, and resolving production defects.
  • Transform functional requirements into technical specifications, build, unit test, and deploy programs.
  • Work with functional leads to re-engineer business processes and map processes to S/4 and FIORI functionality.
  • Manage production incidents through proactive analysis and problem resolution to improve processes and systems.
  • Ensuring deliverables meet quality assurance expectations.
  • Keeping team members, clients and managers up-to-date on status and issues.
  • Provide thought leadership in support of the design, build and deployment of SAP functionality.
  • Interface with IT development staff and third-party software providers (SAP and others) as required for technical matters.
  • Participate in: the development of test scripts; performance of unit, integration, regression and user acceptance testing; and assistance with performance testing.
  • Participate in determining change impacts and assist with change management; develop and conduct user training.

Education and Experience:

  • BSc/BA in Computer Science or Engineering, preferred, and a minimum of 10 years of development experience in SAP ERP, with S/4 HANA experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in conventional ABAP development tools and techniques including but not limited to classic ABAP programming, ABAP Objects, IDocs, SAPScript/Smartform/Adobe Interactive Form, Web Dynpro, web services, workflows, User Exits/BADIs/ Enhancements, CDS views, Enhancement Framework, Object Oriented programming within SAP.
  • Must have integration architecture experience in SAP PO; worked on FILE, IDOC, RFC, XI, SOAP, JDBC, AS2, SFTP, B2B Adapters; Integration Suite experience a plus.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or distribution company is preferred but not required.
  • SAP ERP (S4HANA strongly preferred) full-scale implementation project experience supporting the enablement of enterprise-wide business processes within SAP Software Preferred. Experience with HANA Development Studio, Solution Manager, and HP ALM preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • In depth interface development including ABAP proxy, BAPI/RFC/IDOC/Web Services/ALE, UDF, BPM, IDOCs, Java Mapping, XSLT mapping, module development, NWDI development/administration, and AIF.
  • Ability to optimize integration solutions to enhance performance, scalability, and reliability, addressing any performance bottlenecks and fine-tuning as needed.
  • Ability to be detailed-oriented while still maintaining a big picture perspective. Must have a solid understanding of corporate-wide functions, specifically how technology supports business processes. Excellent business acumen.
  • Highly collaborative work style. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build successful professional working relationships. Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, fast-paced project environment.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Will be expected to communicate to employees and suppliers at all levels (including company executives) via: face to face meetings, conference calls, written messages and project documentation. Ideal candidate must have excellent documentation skills, presentation skills and meeting facilitation skills.
  • Creative and analytical. Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Can do attitude.
  • Ability to react under pressure to any given situation that may arise, in a professional manner and with positive results, in support of a multi-location, 7 X 24 environment.
  • Ability to be the liaison between technology and the business.
  • Ability to work independently, with limited direction, to achieve expected results.
  • Basic to intermediate Microsoft Office skills, to include MS PowerPoint and MS Excel.
  • Excellent coding skills.
