Job Description

Hybrid in Office a minimum of 3 days per week within our Boston, Ma. Office located at 100 Federal St. on the 6th Floor.

As aWind Resource Analyst within the Offshore Wind Resource team you will provide your expertise in wind resource assessment and energy yield modelling to the offshore projects within our global pipeline, with a core focus on the US market. You will participate and represent the company in external expert groups as well as in international R&D/innovation projects with the aim to maximize the value of those activities. Furthermore, technical due diligences of new opportunities, detailed analysis of specific wind conditions, design and approval of measurement campaigns, design and optimization of turbine layouts, post-construction energy yield analyses, power curve measurements as well as management of internal and external stakeholders are other examples the diverse task landscape that you will face in the daily business.

Responsibilities:

  • Provision of technical support as a Wind Resource Analyst throughout the complete lifecycle of offshore windfarm projects from "Greenfield development" through tenders and auctions until the final investment decision, as well as during operations.
  • Independent analysis of potential wind energy via in-depth analysis and processing of meteorological measurements and/or other available data, modelling of wind flow and energy yield production estimates via multiple engineering-based wake models and the quantification of various technical losses, inherent uncertainties and identification of discipline-specific risks and opportunities.
  • Supporting the design and optimization of turbine layouts and the optimization of projects towards Levelized Cost of Energy (LCoE) and/or other optimization targets by applying in-house tools and multidisciplinary wind farm design analysis concepts.
  • Conducting "technical" due diligence analysis with regards to wind resource, energy yield, turbine layout, site conditions and proposed wind turbines.
  • Independent development and prototyping of methods and tools to answer project-specific challenges with the aim to standardize solutions across the project-pipeline.
  • Independent design of new and review of existing measurement campaigns based on various type of measurements systems, management and review of 3rd party assessments, support of internal and external discipline-specific R&D projects.
  • Continuous improvement of existing in-house standards, industries best practices" and in-house software tools and modeling standards used for various tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Meteorology, Aeronautics or Astronautics, Mathematics, Physics, Natural and Computer Sciences, Mechanical Engineering or Renewable Energies with an Engineering focus.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, key knowledge and a solid track record in wind resource assessment as well as modeling of wind farm energy production according to industry standards and best practices using common analysis tools (e.g. WindPro, OpenWind, WindoGrapher).
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience providing technical solutions for wind farm design and turbine layout optimization.
  • Advanced skills using common languages for scientific programming (e.g. Python, Matlab),
  • Experience in using open-source tools for wind farm modeling and optimization (e.g. PyWake, FLORIS, WISDEM, TOPFARM) is a plus.
  • Experience in working on innovation projects is a plus.
  • Agile mindset, a "critical & analytical thinking" attitude, creativity and problem-solving competence are desired.
  • Reasonable level of self-organization, self-reliance, reliability, persistence and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a "team player" mindset.
  • Fluent English in speech and writing.
