Summary

Skyworks Irvine Design center is looking for a summer intern of EM/RF design to join the team in Summer 2024. The successful candidate will possess a reasonable understanding of electromagnetic and RF and be a driven, committed team player. Our EM/RF design team is responsible for designing and simulating all passive aspects of front-end module designs including output matching networks, integrated passive devices, high-directivity daisy-chain couplers, harmonic filters, and high isolation layouts for SAW/BAW duplexers.

Responsibilities

Our RF/EM Design Co-Op will improve design of passive RF circuit designs in a fast-paced team environment. It is required to work closely with PA/SOI/ SAW/BAW engineers to produce optimal co-simulation results.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Adapting to best MCM design and Co-simulation methodologies
  • Designing semi-lumped RF matching networks on chip or on module
  • Designing Integrated Passive Devices (IPD)
  • Designing high-isolation laminate layouts to support high-rejection accoustic filters
  • Participating and conducting design reviews
  • Performing lab testing using RF test equipment The circuit blocks involved in a typical product development may include:
  • Power Amplifiers
  • Integrated Passive Devices
  • SAW/BAW Duplexers & High-Q RF Filters
  • Switches
  • Power Detectors
  • Matching circuits
  • High-directivity couplers

Software Tools Used are: Ansoft HFSS, Agilent ADS and Momentum, EMX

Requirements

Candidate must be currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering (or related) Masters or Ph.D. program. We will not consider students who have already graduated.

  • Lab experience including working with network analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers
  • Experience with ADS, and HFSS tools is preferred
  • Knowledge of HBT, FET, CMOS devices

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
