Job Details:

he Pharmacy Business Manager will oversee the financial performance and compliance of our outpatient pharmacy operations which include two outpatient / retail pharmacy locations on the Tufts MC campus and a variety of contracted pharmacy store locations across greater Boston. In addition, this position is responsible for financial oversight of all ambulatory services where medications are utilized and charged.

This business manager will perform financial analyses for new and continuing operations related to our outpatient pharmacy services, contract pharmacy agreements, 340B and pharmacy operations in general. This position works closely with pharmacy management and Finance.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

340B contract pharmacy oversight, including:

  • compliance
  • audit criteria/performance
  • policy and procedure development/management

Management/oversight of the split billing software, including:

  • ensuring that outpatient clinics are correctly billing for 340B drug
  • system performance and reconciliation
  • procurement practice/oversight
  • Provides financial and market analyses to assist in financial planning and business development projects with regard to 340B and outpatient pharmacy
  • Assist department in evaluating/negotiating/auditing contracts with regards to PBMs, drug procurement, new technology, and new contract pharmacy arrangements / services.
  • Assists a manager or supervisor by coordinating the work of an assigned group of employees. Relays work instructions and distribute and monitors work. Provides technical training and assistance. Assists in ensuring employees are provided with appropriate
  • resources. Provides recommendations for the most efficient utilization of assigned personnel. May provide employee performance information and report employee performance problems.
  • Maintains collaborative, team relationships with peers and colleagues in order to effectively contribute to the working groups achievement of goals, and to help foster a positive work environment
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
Job Qualifications:

AGE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

Possesses and applies the skills and knowledge necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. This includes:

  • Knowledge of growth and development
  • Ability to interpret age specific data and response to care

JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Federal 340B drug program
  • Financial management of retail and/or hospital pharmacy service operations
  • Health care billing, compliance, and auditing
  • Experience in financial analysis, particularly in a pharmacy setting
  • Strong quantitative and interpersonal skills

EDUCATION:

  • A bachelors/masters degree in Business, Finance, healthcare management or related field

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with administering a 340B program
  • Financial management of retail and/or hospital pharmacy service operations
  • Health care billing, compliance, and auditing
  • Experience in financial analysis, particularly in a pharmacy setting
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above, may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
