Job Description:
Schedule: This position requires 5-6 shifts per month. Schedules are created each month, based on your availability. Daily shifts are allocated as follows: 1) Day shift 8am to 4:00pm; 2) Evening shift 4:00pm to 12:00am; 3) Overnight shift 12:00am to 8:00am
Hourly Rate: $17/hour
The Research Intern position will support the Critical Care Research Center staff and investigators in conducting clinical trials within Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Medicine, the Surgical Intensive Care Unit, the Medical Intensive Care Unit, Hospital Medicine, the Trauma Program, and the Burn Center. The interns will be responsible for screening and identifying potential candidates for enrollment in current clinical trials, assist the research staff in the enrollment process for each study, and complete data collection and data entry as directed. This individual will also be involved in the literature review process for proposal development, as well as arrangement of study data into presentation format for manuscript, oral, or poster presentations. The ideal candidate will be currently enrolled or a graduate of a pre-medicine or health science bachelor's degree program and have previous patient care experience.
This is a 12-month internship program that runs from June 2023-June 2024. Candidates must be available to be on-site in the St Paul, MN metro area and St.Louis Park, MN area for the full 12 months of the program.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensure: Valid driver's license.

Job Duties and Task
- Screens ED patient list to identify potential subjects for enrollment in clinical trials.
- Communicates directly with care team to confirm eligibility and facilitate study-related procedures
(e.g., request lab draws, transfer investigational products.)
- Assists with and independently conducts consent conversations with patients.
- Abstracts and enters data from electronic patient record into study databases.
- Completes active data collection as directed by CCRC staff.
- Completes required training for conducting research, such as CITI and study-specific training
- Completes in-person orientation to the CCRC June 5-9, 2023
- Attends a regular (monthly or every two weeks) intern meeting
- Demonstrates consent conversation competency.
- Other tasks as assigned by leader or supervisor.
***Must have flexibility to be scheduled at Regions Hospital or Park Nicollet Methodist hospital.***
Additional Information:
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Successful completion of college coursework in Science, Public Health, Pre-Med, or related area.
Experience: Previous patient care experience; previous experience with clinical research
Certification: Current certification as a health care provider (MA, PCA, EMT-B, EMT-P, CNA, CMA, LPN)
