Description

This position is for a Validation Engineer in the Mobile Systems (MSB) Division in Skyworks Newbury Park, CA design center. The successful candidate will possess an excellent understanding of RF, software skills, be a driven & committed team player, and have excellent communication skills. Our Validation Engineers are involved in the Characterization and Production readiness of high-performance Front End Solutions used by the Cellular/Mobile Device Industry's largest and most successful companies. Validation Engineers are the glue that holds together the new product development process. As a Skyworks' MSB employee you have the chance to have a uniquely large impact on the success of the company. Validation Engineers' core focus is to create the linkage between design, characterization and production test. The engineer will decipher and convert the customer's specification into a workable test solution by using AutoPCT. This involves both software and hardware development. In addition, the candidate will work closely with System engineer to come up with a spec template for Open market customers so will automate and make the process of creating STC more efficient. The candidate will also work in an interdisciplinary team supporting the characterization and device validation of cellular power amplifiers and front end modules. The ability to tune & optimize Power Amplifiers is a desired skill-set.

Responsibilities

The work will include but not be limited to the following:
o Create STC (Specification To Compliance) Files that define all required tests using AutoPCT
o Create / Modify GUTS (General Unified Test Solution) Programs that drive automated test solutions

o Completes the Design Scorecard and/or Customer Compliance Matrix highlighting performance deficiencies and areas that need focus

o Serves as key interfaces to Product Engineering(PE), Characterization Engineering(CE) and Test Engineering(TE)
o Has weekly discussion with the current VEs and tries to facilitate automation on items that currently are done manually or semi-manually such as LNA LUT, ASM notch tuning, Exec meeting tables

o Drives Design Verification Test(DVT) testing and actively provides feedback to Designer

 
 Software Tools used are:
o GUTs (proprietary Skyworks tool)
o STC (proprietary Skyworks tool)
o C/C++ & scripting languages
o AutoPCT(proprietary Skyworks tool)

 
 Hardware Tools that might be used in certain occasions are:
o Network Analyzers
o Spectrum Analyzers
o Signal Generators
o Digital Receivers
o Load-Pull/Tuners

Required Expereince and Skills

Bachelor's degree + 5 years' experience or master's degree and 3 years' experience
2+ years of experience measuring, tuning, optimizing RF and/or analog/mixed-signal IC's
Excellent communication, a passion to win/contribute, ability to work in and thrive in a team

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $87,600$167,900 per year per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
