Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, (SeniorAssociate Research Scientist), are to:

  • Independently design and conduct process development experiments, assays, or operational procedures of a complex and non-routine nature in support of pre-determined corporate goals;
  • Apply knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GMP) requirements to practice in own functional area;
  • Analyze and interpret results, systems, or procedures;
  • Troubleshoot failed experiments, assays, or procedures;
  • Overcome obstacles and develop alternative experimental approaches;
  • Exercise sound technical judgment to solve a range of scientific problems;
  • Recommend new and innovative solutions to problems utilizing knowledge of unit operations, scientific creativity, independent thought, and proficiency;
  • Interact with other departments on projects and contributes to overall success of specific project;
  • Interpret and effectively communicate scientific findings in one on one discussions and/or departmental meetings;
  • Take initiative in keeping current with field of specialty;
  • Present complete development summaries;
  • Contribute to scientific literature;
  • Present projects and literature reports in a public forum;
  • Ensure that laboratory notebooks are consistently updated, audited, and well-maintained;
  • Aim to identify novel drug targets.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Sciences with at least eight years' relevant experience or Master of Science with at least six years' relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Five years' experience in pharmaceutical Research and Development (R&D);
  • Understanding of drug discovery processes and development process;
  • Experience in state of the art in vitro and in vivo laboratory techniques (gain and loss of function cell culture experiments, cellular target engagement assays, expression studies, in vivo studies on mouse and rat with focus on xenograft studies with PO, intraperitoneal(IP) and IV treatment, establishment of orthotopic and transgenic mouse models;
  • Demonstrated ability to design and perform experiments; assays, methods development, validation, scale-up or operations;
  • Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot problems requiring original thought;
  • Demonstrated knowledge in field of expertise (i.e.- unit operation, of literature, new developments, technologies, and regulations);
  • Ability to apply scientific principles to the design and interpretation of scientific experiments;
  • Ability to exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results;
  • Ability to solve routine to complex operation and scientific problems requiring original thinking and deductive reasoning;
  • Ability to prepare reports and interpret the results of complex experiments.
