Job Description

The Associate Director Clinical Outsourcing provides leadership to the clinical research Outsourcing managers within the Outsourcing function. Responsibilities include: conception and direction of strategic outsourcing initiatives, utilizing metrics to monitor risk and develop mitigation strategies in outsourced programs, and assurance of an effective, cross-functional contract management process. The Associate Director will recommend outsourcing strategies to best meet Vertex goals and to ensure best value from our suppliers. The Associate Director will recommend value creation (including cost reduction), strategies for outsourced work.

The incumbent will train and mentor department staff on department processes and contract knowledge. The position will build cross-functional relationships and ensure sourcing processes are understood and followed within the functional teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides leadership to Outsourcing staff
  • Recommends Outsourcing Strategies
  • Advises team in difficult Contract Negotiations
  • Leads process Improvement initiatives

Minimum Qualifications :

  • BA/BS in business or life sciences. MBA preferred.
  • 5 - 7 years contract experience in bio-pharmaceutical field
  • 5 - 7 years prior management experience in strategic sourcing.
  • Knowledge of project management.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage change.
  • Experience with conflict resolution
